Today’s next post is a Song Spotlight for the song “Hey Jude.” Check out the Polyvore here.
“Hey Jude” was released on August 28, 1968 with “Revolution” on the B-side. The song evolved from “Hey Jules” a song Paul McCartney wrote to comfort John Lennon’s son, Julian during his parents’ divorce. (So sweet of Paul!) Lennon was separating from his wife Cynthia because of his affair with Yoko Ono.
Anyway, this song was the first single released from the Beatles’ record label Apple Records. “Hey Jude” is over seven minutes long, but every minute counts. It is the longest single to ever top British charts and stayed at number one for sixteen weeks. It also topped the American charts for nine weeks.
I just really love this ballad song – everything about it. I love the music, lyrics and message. Watch the video below.
Until next time, Beatles fans. Nah nah nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, hey Jude!
Peace and love. Let it be.
